It gives me great pleasure to endorse this wonderful opportunity for our local residents to experience our Japanese Sister City Hitachi first hand during what is probably the most spectacular time of year in Japan.  I have been to Hitachi on several occasions, experienced their incredible hospitality and have seen the cherry blossoms “Sakura” in full bloom. To be involved in the renowned Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival and take part in the road race is an unforgettable experience and I thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

I had the opportunity to visit Hitachi during the Cherry Blossom festival a couple of years ago. For me, Hitachi City is the real essence of Japan. It's a traditional city located on the coast with a rich and ancient history. The Blossom Festival is simply the best time to visit and is an experience like no other.
